About

Henry is a writer, poet, and TV producer who co-founded both the Manchester and Nottingham Poetry Festivals.

In 2017, he received a special BAFTA for services to Television, having co-written the award-winning Mrs Merton Show, The Royle Family, and several shows with Steve Coogan.

As co-founder of Baby Cow Productions, he executive produced and script-edited acclaimed projects like Philomena, Gavin and Stacey, The Mighty Boosh, and Alan Partridge. His BBC Radio 4 work blends comedy, poetry, and family stories.

Henry now lives in Fairlight with his wife, screenwriter Angela Pell, and their son. Together they co-wrote his bestselling memoir A Normal Family. He continues to perform at festivals, has published numerous poetry books, holds two honorary doctorates—and even has a beer and a bus named after him.
