Accessibility Statement

1066 Country Marketing is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to the 1066 Country website - www.visit1066country.com.

This website is run by 1066 Country Marketing. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content: Images must have alternate text - Some images and functionality buttons do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). We will always add text alternatives for images added after October 2025. When we publish new content, we’ll make sure our use of images and functionality meets accessibility standards. Our team are working their way through older images and videos on the website to add alt text and this is a work in progress.

  • WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships and WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value - Some of our forms do not have labels. Our team are working their way through older forms on the website to add alt text and this is a work in progress.

  • WCAG 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) - Some elements fail WCAG focus not obscured as elements cover links across the webpage that receive keyboard focus. Work is currently being done on the hamburger menu to fix this.

  • WCAG 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide – Some carousels of images at the top of our webpages cannot be paused, stopped or hidden. We are working our way through all webpages to update this issue.

We are working with our website developers and internal teams to fix these issues. We expect to have updates on the above issues before March 31st.

Our website was last tested on 28th January 2026.

Disproportionate burden

None

The content is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  • The Accessibility regulations 2018 do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

  • Some of our resource documents, such as the maps and guides, are designed to be downloaded and printed, so these may not be fully accessible.

  • Pre-recorded audio and video published before 23 September 2020.

  • Some maps, however, essential information (like an address) is in an accessible format.

  • Third party content that’s under someone else’s control if you did not pay for it or develop it yourself - for example, social media ‘like’ buttons
