Violinist Jonathan Truscott, cellist Rachel Firmager and pianist William Hancox join forces to present the first of many concerts for Music Box Wealden.
Haydn's Piano Trio No. 39 in G major, often nicknamed 'Gypsy Rondo,' is probably the best-known of his many trios. The famous finale, in 'Hungarian style', includes several gypsy tunes. The Phantasie for piano trio is an early work of a great English composer with strong Sussex connections - Frank Bridge was born in Brighton, lived in Friston and died in Eastbourne.
The concert finishes with Mendelssohn's wonderful four movement trio in C minor, which he presented to his sister, the pianist and composer Fanny Mendelssohn on her birthday in 1846.
