Hastings Stade Saturdays, the annual programme of free outdoor performances on the Stade Open Space, runs from June to October 2019.

6 July 2-8pm
Hastings Film Screening Mark French curates TOTAL SUPER 8 The best of Hastings Film Makers Super 8 commissions for Coastal Currents, and other recent short films. Chris Prewett + guests create an evening AV experience. Coincides with the opening of Hastings Contemporary, formerly the Jerwood Gallery.

Juliet Russell and Tijs Groen with guests Vocal Explosion present Music from the Hot Lands.
20 July 7.30 - 8.30pm 
Described by STAGE MAGAZINE as “brilliantly haunting”- Juliet Russell’s Voice combines the passion of Fado with Eastern European lament and uplifting harmonies of Africa. Tijs Groen -voted one of the top two guitarists in the Netherlands, loops up sounds with incredible speed and skill -producing Gypsy jazz to Latin to lyrical Andalucia.

Margate Film Screening

THIS SATURDAY'S SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL 7TH SEPTEMBER DUE TO FORECAST RAIN AND HIGH WINDS. 
27 July 2-8pm
BERC presents: Stone and Sand: a collaboration between Coastal Currents and Margate NOW in an exchange and sharing of work. BERC will curate a Margate Film programme to screen as part of Stade Saturdays.

The "Nearly On The" Beach Concert 
3 & 4 August 1pm - 8pm
Live bands & DJ's playing both days to raise funds for Hastings RNLI, Pett Level Rescue & Sea Cadets PLUS Rock & Roll Breakfast on Sunday 10am-12.30pm Bar, Catering & much more available on our festival site all weekend. Grand Carnival Procession
10 August 5pm
Part of Old Town Carnival Week. This year the theme is "Out with the Old and In with the New" 4pm.

ASSEMBLY STARTS in Rock-a-Nore Road/4.30pm registration for judging closes/5pm PARADE STARTS. Judging takes place during the parade, where you will be judged not only on your costumes and/or float but on how you entertain and engage with the spectators and interpret the theme.

Strictly Stade Saturday with Dance Hastings and Hastings Salsa.                                                                                                                       17 August 2pm - 8pm
An inclusive, family-friendly participatory dance event.A series of free classes and opportunities for social dancing will be offered throughout the event. Classes will include: Wheelchair accessible dance for all, including those with learning difficulties taught by Dance Hastings and Salsa taught by Hastings Salsa. There will be opportunities to dance to salsa, swing, tango, ballroom and latin music.

A Day of Ballroom, produced by 18 Hours Events.
24 August 2.30-5.30
With music by Simply Swing, one of the UKs biggest live swing bands. Take part in ballroom dance workshops with Ballroom Glamour, watch regional / national ballroom champions and Paradance UK Dancers and get your own dancing shoes on for a twirl or two. Dancers and watchers of all abilities welcome!

Coastal Currents does Stade Saturdays

Seafood and Wine Festival (£2.50-4.00)
14 & 15 September 11am - 6pm Enjoy delicious fish dishes from local restaurants and wines from local vineyards, along with a range of the best produce the area has to offer. Fantastic locally made beers, ciders, meat and vegetarian dishes will also be available.  There’s also story-telling, circus skills, craft and fish related activities during the weekend for the whole family to enjoy. Lots of live music and entertainment in the music tent on the beach including the Sunday morning (additional fee) legendary Liane Carroll Jazz Breakfast which kicks off day two of the weekend. 

Hastings Storytelling Festival - Children’s Day and Carnival Parade
6 October 12noon – 4pm
This year’s Children’s Storytelling Day and parade is a month earlier than usual. Settle down to top quality storytelling from Pickled Image with their new show, Grandad’s Woodland Tales, be mesmerised by the beautiful Mermaid from Showglobe and enchanted by Bambolina from Circle of Two. Plus much more. And, of course, the ever popular parade through the Old Town. This year’s theme is Flights of Fancy. Come and join in the fun!

Hastings Bonfire & Torchlight Procession                                                                                                                                                          Saturday 19 October The Stade Open Space hosts some of the many flaming torches as the various bonfire societies gather at the start of one of Hastings' biggest nights of the year.
