Rye Arts Festival

About

Welcome to the packed 2022 Rye Arts Festival

This 51st annual Rye Arts Festival will run from 9th to 25th September 2022. The Festival is proud to offer a full range of artistic events with world class performers from around the globe, as well as locals.

For the classical music programme, Rye Arts Festival is thrilled to have partnered with the City Music Foundation (CMF), to showcase many brilliant young professional musicians at the start of their careers. There will be a variety of lunchtime as well as evening concerts.

The traditional and contemporary music programme provides everything from the hot sounds of West Africa to the fusion of blues guitar and celtic fiddle, by way of 1920s Charleston music and English folk.

The books and talks programme is headlined by the best-selling author Robert Harris whose latest historical novel is published at the start of September. Lord David Owen will provide a topical talk about England’s relationship with Russia. The Reverend Richard Coles has retired as a parson and turned to crime! Murder in the Cathedral was an instant best-seller. A number of E.F. Benson events will celebrate the centenary of the publication of Miss Mapp in 1922, written by one of Rye’s greatest residents!

Drama will include a dramatisation of Oscar Wide’s De Profundis and also The Ballad of Reading Gaol.

And don’t miss Inside the Archers, where the editor Jeremy Howe and Felicity French (who plays Ruth Archer) give the low down on the world’s longest running radio drama!

The packed fortnight in September will see the very best of all the arts coming to Rye! For more information go to www.ryeartsfestival.org.uk
