School children in 1066 Country are invited to enter through their school. There are two categories: Junior (Years 1 to 6) and Senior (Years 7 to 13).
The Adult Competition is open to residents aged 16 years and over who live in the Battle Town Council community.
The title for the inaugural competition is Battle 2066 and the closing date is 31st July 2016.
Adults must submit exactly 1066 words – prose, poetry or play in any genre.
Junior school children may submit up to 1066 words – prose or poetry in any genre.
Senior school children may submit up to 1066 words – prose, poetry or play in any genre.

Battle Town Council launches its 1066 Writing Competition. The competition is supported by Rother District Council's 1066 Anniversary Grants Scheme and is sponsored by Battle Books.
