Winter Light

About

A solo exhibition of new work by Eastbourne based Irish artist Rory Prout. There is an idea in Irish storytelling that human mood can settle into the landscape; that, as writer Kevin Barry puts it, 'feeling escapes from people and seeps into the stones of a place.'

This exhibition stems from an interest in descriptions of landscape and environment within Irish literary and folklore traditions. These paintings depict scenes from the forests and chalk lands of the South Downs, and from hills, mountains and farmlands of Rory's native Munster.
