A quintessentially English castle.

Bodiam is one of Britain’s most picturesque castles in the heart of a historic landscape. As was Sir Edward Dallingridge’s vision when he built the castle in 1385, the approach to the castle with towers rising majestically from the moat is awe inspiring. With spiral stairs, battlements, windows for loosing arrows and ruins where knights once roamed, Bodiam is a place where you can let your imagination run free.

Some of the best views in the county can be seen from the top of the towers and we are open all year round for you to enjoy the castle in all seasons.

The main tea-room and Castle View Café serve delicious lunches and a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats. There is also a gift shop selling a range of castle-themed gifts and local produce and a second-hand bookshop to browse.

National Trust members enter free with a membership card. Become a member for £6 a month (adult) or £10.50 a month (family). Under 5s are always free, and children's memberships are just £10 a year.
*Includes a voluntary donation of at least 10% which will be put towards the restoration and upkeep of this property. If you are a UK taxpayer, please complete a Gift Aid declaration which will allow the National Trust to claim an extra 25% from the Government on your total payment.
