On Saturday 29th November 2025, Professor Anthony Bale, the author of, "A Travel Guide to the Middle Ages: The World Through Medieval Eyes" (2024) will be delivering a talk at the New Hall, Winchelsea titled, "The Medieval English Traveller From Winchelsea To Beyond". Anthony Bale, the 8th Professor of Medieval & Renaissance English Literature at the University of Cambridge, was awarded the Beatrice White Prize for 'Feeling Persecuted: Christians, Jews and Images of Violence in the Middle Ages'. Other publications include new editions of Sir John Mandeville's 'The Book of Marvels and Travels' and 'The Book of Margery Kempe'. £5 Admission or Free to WCS and WAAHS Members (or join on the day).
