This will be the first time for some eighteen months that Covid regulations have been sufficiently flexible to allow young international soloists at the start of their professional careers to travel to take up opportunities in the United Kingdom. We are delighted to be hosting these talented young singers for this wonderful Mozart opera.
The fully staged performances will be accompanied by our HPO Ensemble, and HPO Singers will act as Chorus. As part of HPO's new initiative to extend our musical outreach, performances will take place in the beautiful surroundings of Vinehall School, which has a wonderful theatre.
We hope you will join us for these entertaining and high-quality performances, which promise to be a real treat.
On the wedding day of Figaro and Susanna, the fickle Count Almaviva, who has lost interest in his wife, attempts to seduce Susanna. She and Figaro conspire with the long suffering Countess Almaviva to outwit him and to teach him a lesson in fidelity, but his young page, Cherubino, inadvertently upsets the carefully laid plans, and relationships are severely tested. All of this is brought to life by Mozart's music of consummate grace, wit, and joyous invention, with Da Ponte's sparklingly adroit libretto.
