Add Mill Weekend at Bateman's Park Mill to your Itinerary

Park Mill at Bateman’s during Mill Weekend, with a historic red‑tiled mill building reflected in the surrounding water.

About

Join in the National Mills Weekend celebrations at Bateman's Park Mill, one of the only working water mills in the area. Park Mill was beloved by Kipling and features in stories he wrote at Bateman's. Watch milling in action and meet our friendly guides to learn more about its history.

Across the weekend, enjoy live cooking demonstrations with Jo from Schools Without Walls, using flour milled right here at Park Mill. Jo will be making traditional dropscones and flatbreads, with demonstrations taking place throughout the day.

Younger visitors can enjoy activities including dressing up, heritage lawn games, and a selection of mill‑themed toys and books.

The weekend also supports fundraising to help secure the future of milling with a new water mill.

9 & 10 May.

11am - 4pm.

Free with admission.
