Unleash your creativity and explore the art of ceramics in this hands-on workshop at Tillingham. Guided by experienced ceramicist Kate Sellers, you'll learn how to design and decorate your own unique creations using colored slips (liquid clay). Ideal for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this workshop combines artistry, craftsmanship, and the serene atmosphere of Tillingham's picturesque setting.
Participants will take home two bespoke pieces: a coaster and a trinket dish, beautifully glazed and fired.. Choose to collect your creations at Tillingham (2/3 weeks later) or have them delivered for a small additional fee of £6.
10am – 1pm
Introduction & Slip Design Demonstration The session begins with an introduction to working with colored slips, including a demonstration of the paper resist technique.
Hands-On Practice Start with a pre-cut coaster to practice your slip design and familiarise yourself with the tools and techniques.
Create Your Trinket Dish Learn how to cut and mold your own shallow bowl using pre-rolled clay. You'll have a selection of cookie cutters or the option to freehand a design. Once shaped, your dish will be set aside to dry while you enjoy a tea and coffee break.
Decorate Your Masterpieces After removing your dish from the mold, let your creativity flow as you decorate it with slip designs.
1pm – 3pm
After the workshop you will head upstairs to our Michelin Green Star restaurant and enjoy a 2 course lunch created by Head Chef Adam Swain.
