During this one-day workshop Philippa will guide you through the process of making a flat-back case binding, with either lined or blank pages. Within the process, you will learn how to sew and bind a book using traditional methods.
When paired with the paper marbling workshop from the day before, taught by Eloise, you will have the opportunity to use your own hand-marbled paper within the binding. If you opt for the bookbinding-only workshop, decorative papers will be provided.
Philippa East is a bookbinder based near Rye in East Sussex. Philippa has been practicing bookbinding and conservation for 15 years and has been running Seagull Bindery since 2021.
