A21: Life On The Verge

blackShed Gallery, Russet Farm, Redlands Lane, Robertsbridge, East Sussex, TN32 5NG
Poster for “Life on the Verge: A21” exhibition by Nessie Ramm, showing roadside plants, birds, and a glowing petrol station.

About

See the A21 as you've never seen it before! Love it or loathe it or just tolerate it, the A21 between Sevenoaks and Hastings is a familiar traffic-filled feature of Kent and Sussex. But it's also full of wild things that call it home. Come and meet some of them on the walls of this gallery which is conveniently situated right by the A21 itself. The exhibition will be a mixture of oil paintings which were made on the verges, road-themed prints and 'rewilded' traffic signs.

Nessie Ramm is on a mission to paint the wild verges of Britain, to bring the beauty and value of these unloved spaces to our attention. Her work is a celebration of the plants, insects and birds that flourish there and also a deeper call to re-evaluate our relationship with the natural world.
