Roundabout Battle to the East

Meet outside Battle Railway Station, Station Approach, Battle, East Susex, TN33 0DE

About

Join Battle Ramblers on one of their regular Sunday morning walks. Walk through the town, its twittens, a sunken drove “road” and among fields in the near vicinity of the town.  Spot the new steel and mosaic statue of 1066 combatants on the roundabout.

Bring your own drink and snack, if required – there will be a stop for 15 minutes or so somewhere with a nice view of the town or countryside.  Battle has the famous Abbey run by English Heritage, pubs, tea shops and toilets - explore at your leisure after the walk.

Parking at Battle Station (£1 on Sundays) or in Battle itself at Rother DC pay car parks.  Trains arrive at Battle Station from both north and south at around quarter to the hour.

Toilets can be found in the Abbey or Mount Street car park.  Battle Town centre is only 10 minutes’ walk from the Station.

Walkers must ensure they are fit enough for the distance and have suitable off-road clothing and footwear.  The leader may refuse participants who (in their opinion) are inadequately equipped or unfit.  Walking in the countryside is one of the safest activities - it is the responsibility of participants to behave sensibly and minimise the potential for accidents to occur.  Walkers under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

No booking required.  No dogs allowed.
