Alexandra Park

About

This 109 acre park was originally laid out by Robert Marnock, a renowned landscape gardener, in 1878. It was formally opened by the Prince and Princess of Wales on June 26 1882.
Alexandra Park is a Grade II* designated site in the "Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest" and is one of the best parks in the country for its tree collection. A 10 minute walk from the town centre, the Lower Park has large lawns, wildlife ponds, War Memorial, bowls green, information points, toilets, cafe, event areas, bandstand and adventure playground. There's also a Park Rangers office opposite the cafe.

Sports facilities, playgrounds, fishing poinds and nature conservation areas.
