About

Journey back in time to uncover the deep and dark secrets of the ancient smuggling industry. Notorious smuggler Hairy Jack will lead you through acres of hidden underground caverns, covert passages, and concealed tunnels on a curious voyage deep beneath the surface. You’ll be greeted by over 70 life-sized smuggling characters who  will open your eyes to the lucrative but often perilous world of the ancient smugglers. Meet historic pirates, smugglers and bootleggers who used this underground hideaway to stash their illegal contraband from the watchful eye of the Crown.

Enjoy the many Interactive displays and hands-on games and activities – ensuring that Smugglers Adventure is a great day out for the whole family. Be sure to watch out for the Chapel – it’s the most haunted part of the caves and is colder than anywhere else. We guess it’s because of all of those smuggler spirits (as in ghosts, not rum) who frequented the caves many centuries ago.

Smugglers Adventure is an educational and exciting experience but some children of a nervous disposition may find some of the themes discussed scary, such as ghosts and mild gore/horror.  It is a self-guided attraction but we promise there are no members of staff waiting to jump out and scare you  – unless at an advertised special event.

Please note there are several steps down to the entrance of the cave entrance. Due to the attraction being set inside a natural cave, there are some uneven floors, a low tunnel and slippery surfaces. Pushchairs are not permitted inside but can be left in the buggy park.

See You Soon Smugglers!
