Roland Penrose & the British Surrealists

Rye Art Gallery, 107 High Street, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7JE
Roland Penrose

About

Performer/s:

Antony Penrose

An illustrated talk by Antony Penrose.

After returning to London from Paris in 1936, Roland introduced Surrealism to an incredulous and hostile British public. Reviled and ridiculed at the time, and beset with internal quarrels, the movement made a truly lasting impact on the arts in Britain.
