Caspar Singh tenor
Sholto Kynoch piano
Franz Schubert's song cycle Die schöne Müllerin needs little introduction as one of the pinnacles of the song repertoire. The cycle's 20 songs follow a young man stepping out confidently into the world, only to face painful rejection by the beautiful miller's daughter, who is more interested in the strapping huntsman than the more sensitive protagonist.
To perform this masterpiece, we welcome British-Indian tenor Caspar Singh. Caspar is embarking on his second season as a member of the ensemble of the prestigious Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, having completed his studies at the Staatsoper's Opera Studio at the end of the 2019-20 season. One of the most exciting young tenors today, his voice has recently been described as 'beautiful, velvety', and his words 'sung with conviction and clarity'.
