The Rich History of Bodiam Castle:
Step into Medieval history at Bodiam Castle.
Set in the heart of a historic landscape, 14th-century Bodiam Castle is one of Britain's most picturesque and romantic ancient monuments.
Discover windows where arrows were once fired, a tower that served as a lookout, and ruins that were once walked upon by knights. Once inside Bodiam Castle's ruined walls, there's lots to see and do. You could climb the steep spiral staircases to the top of the towers, take a seat on the dais and observe the great hall or look up at the remains of the iron-clad oak portcullis, thought to be one of the oldest in England.
The Bodiam Castle Surrounding attractions:
Make sure to stop by the Wharf tea-room or Castle View Café, serving delicious lunches and a tempting selection of homemade cakes and treats. There is also a gift shop selling a range of castle-themed gifts and local produce, plus a second-hand bookshop to browse. Apart from group visits and ticketed events, you do not need to book in advance to visit Bodiam Castle.
