Visitor Centre at Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, Goudhurst, Kent

About

Bedgebury is an award winning visitor attraction comprising of the National Pinetum, a world-renowned tree collection, and Bedgebury Forest. The forest is home to a children’s play trail, Go Ape high ropes courses, many miles of family cycling and mountain bike trails and waymarked running routes. Whether exploring the forest or the pinetum, Bedgebury provides a beautiful and tranquil setting to walk, play, picnic, learn, immerse in nature and enjoy.

Bedgebury Pinetum is home to the National Conifer Collection and is recognised as one of the most significant collections of conifers anywhere in the world. It contains over 12,000 specimen trees set in 320 acres of Grade ll listed landscape within the High Weald AONB. Bedgebury is awe-inspiring for tree lovers looking to learn about international tree conservation as well as a beautiful setting for peaceful walks, and picnics around the rolling hills, valleys, and lakes.

Bedgebury Forest, set in a further 2000 acres is the perfect place for those seeking more adventure. Shared forest paths are perfect for running, walking, and cycling for all ages and abilities. In addition, we have 2km, 3km, 5km, and 10km waymarked running trails, a 9km blue family cycle trail and a 13km red singletrack mountain bike trail.

The Bedgebury visitor centre and our friendly staff are available to provide advice, maps and leaflets to help you get the most from your visit. The Bedgebury café features hot and cold food for breakfast and lunches with inside seating and outdoor picnic tables set next to one of our beautiful lakes.

For our younger visitors, 1 – 13 years old we have a 2km play trail with ten challenging forest-based play equipment installations set out around the shipwreck café and pirate themed play area. We also have six Gruffalo sculptures dotted around the pinetum and forest inspired by Julia Donaldsons iconic book.

Our visitor centre is fully accessible to wheelchair users. In addition to an accessible toilet and baby changing space we have a Changing Places facility for those with further needs.  We have a 3.2 km accessible trail and an all-terrain mobility scooter to hire for those with limited mobility.
Dogs are welcome on site, they must be kept on a lead in the pinetum and on the children’s play trail.

Bedgebury has a busy programme of events and activities running all year round and suitable for individuals, groups, and families of all different ages. Our most popular event is the spectacular Christmas at Bedgebury illuminated trail. Each week Bedgebury hosts a range of fitness and wellbeing activities including running groups, pilates, yoga, Nordic walking, guided cycle groups and parkrun.

On site we also have cycle hire for all ages and a bike shop that offers sales and servicing. Go Ape offers three different tree top adventures for the whole family. Our dedicated learning team supported by the Kent High Weald Partnership offer school trip and forest school activities during term time and summer school holidays.
