The first concert of Winchelsea Arts' 10th season will take place on Sunday 6 July at 7pm. The Hastings Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Marcio da Silva with violinist Emil Chakalov, return to Winchelsea to perform two staples of the orchestral repertoire.
Vivaldi's four famous concerti were composed to represent different aspects of each season. All were published with accompanying sonnets and are revolutionary since they represent some of the earliest programmatic music.
Grieg's five movement Holberg Suite is based on 18th century dance forms with which Vivaldi would have been familiar, making it a perfect companion piece.
Tickets for the concert are available through the website at £25 each for adults and under-18s free. Subscriptions tickets for the season are also available and represent significant discounts over the six concerts.
