Song at Fairlight presents:
ON THIS ISLAND
Nazan Fikret soprano
Sholto Kynoch piano
"Fikret is exceptional, wonderfully secure over the role's exacting range…"
(The Guardian)
Nazan Fikret is a thrilling young soprano who has already sung 'The Queen of the Night' for Glyndebourne and Garsington Operas and made her debut at the Royal Opera House. A winner of many prizes, Nazan is also an artist with a strong commitment to song and we're delighted to welcome her to Fairlight Hall for the latest in our series presented in partnership with the Oxford Lieder Festival.
Nazan and pianist Sholto Kynoch will perform some favourite Schubert songs, including 'An die Musik', as well as a group of songs by Brahms and Benjamin Britten's luminous cycle On this Island. They round off this lovely programme with a colourful group of songs by Erik Satie. As always, they will introduce the songs during the concert, and there will be delicious cake and coffee at the end, making for an ideal Sunday morning!
Full programme:
Schubert: Lied der Delphine, Rastlose Liebe, An die Musik, An die Mond, Du bist die Ruh, Nachtviolen, Der Jüngling an der Quelle | Brahms: Es Träumte Mir, Auf dem Kirchhofe, Dein Blaues Auge, Vergebliches Ständchen | Britten: On this Island | Satie: Trois Mélodies de 1916
