Join the early stages of local performance company TUFT's new adaptation of Shakespeare's most controversial play, Titus Andronicus. It's gory, it's gruesome, it's absurd, and it continues to be revealing about the world we live in.
Join an incredible group of multidisciplinary performance-maker powerhouses: Anna-Maria Nabirye, Jess Mabel Jones, Ellie Westbrook, TD Van der Beek, Patricia Langa and musicians Jessie Maryon Davies and Kat Stark as they delve into some of the corners of this deeply layered text, with early costume and set ideas supported by Hattie Spice.
This will be a work-in-progress sharing, with new ideas and experiments laid bare.
Come with an open mind, a curious heart and a bit of bravery! Expect to be tickled, challenged and left asking questions, as is the Shakespearian way.
The Titus Andronicus sharing will be followed by a set of new comedy songs from collaborator Jessie Maryon Davies, drawing on self-reflective tales from her childhood including the 'Cat Song' (exploring links between a fierce childhood family cat and a persistent inner critic) and 'Splashing the Patriarchy' (think unrealistic competitiveness and fury in the fast lane of swimming pools) alongside some other performative treats from this awesome collective of artists.
