About

Join acclaimed folk innovators Lisa Knapp and Gerry Diver as part of Music for Midwinter – three nights of world class artists in local venues across St Leonards and Hastings presented by Sounds St Leonards.

They'll be playing music from their plaudit-winning album Hinterland. Featuring Lisa's distinctive voice and her skill in weaving the ancient with the contemporary alongside Gerry's fiddle virtuosity and trailblazing production. This partnership is poised to enchant traditional folk purists and new seekers alike, promising a fresh, exhilarating spin on folk music's timeless tales.

Blending English and Irish folk traditions with bold contemporary soundscapes, Hinterland explores the natural world, ancient history, and the mysteries that lie between. Expect powerful storytelling, haunting harmonies and inventive instrumentation from two of the UK's most distinctive voices in modern folk.

Featuring tracks such as 'Hawk & Crow', 'Train Song', and 'Long Lankin', the album moves through shadow and light — from dark folklore to radiant instrumentals — revealing the duo's signature mix of raw energy and lyrical depth.
