Collage artwork of white flowers in a lush landscape with a red building and layered sky, from Rock Paper Scissors: Local Landscapes.

About

Rock Paper Scissors is a new solo exhibition by Bexhill-based artist Daniela Maria Gargiulo. These images of the East Sussex coast range from the abandoned WW1 sound mirrors at Denge via the East Hill at Hastings to the ruins of Lewes Castle. Gargiulo's works are all collages though even close to you'd be hard pressed to tell. Her technique involves cutting tiny threads of painted paper and composing elaborate figurative works that have little in common with standard expectations of collage. The sixty artworks are concerned with universal themes of loss, grief and hope, rendered through an energised colour palette. All works are framed and are for sale at affordable prices.
