About

Have fun discovering Hastings with two self-guided, heritage walks with an optional treasure hunt.
Are you curious about Hastings? Looking for an unusual and quirky activity which gets you out in the fresh air whatever the weather? Take one of our self-guided walks with a treasure hunt theme – looping around the better-known sights, as well as some of the more unusual and quirky ones, which combined make Hastings a fabulous place to explore!
You'll get detailed directions, a map, clues (with answers in the back!), and some interesting snippets about the history of Hastings and the people that have shaped it.
Buy in printed booklet or instant download format (to use instantly on your mobile device or to print at home) from https://www.curiousabout.co.uk/hastings.html and explore in your own time.

Walk 1:Old Town Circular (1.5 miles)
Starting at Old Town's former Town Hall you begin by exploring the heart of this fascinating area of Hastings, with its 'heady bohemian atmosphere', roughly corresponding to the extent of the town prior to the 19th century. Pass its many quaint buildings and quirky shops, before descending to its shingle beach, home to the biggest beach-launched fishing fleet in England, before making your way back to the old Town Hall.

Walk 2: Old Town to Castle (0.75 miles)
This walk takes you along the sea front at Hastings Old Town, before bending back through a busy and bustling street with its many interesting shops, bars and restaurants, all intermingling with its venerable heritage. Up next, out of Old Town, to scale a hill with stunning views across the sea, and home to Hastings' delightful, ancient castle.

Accessibility:
Both walks are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs, though there are marked diversions to avoid steps.
