The Knowle at St Leonards is an adults-only luxury bed and breakfast set in a quiet and leafy street overlooking Markwick gardens, a beautiful, private Victorian garden, originally built to be enjoyed by the neighbourhood. St Leonards Warrior Square train station is a short walk as are the independent restaurants and bric-a-brac shops of Norman Road, Kings Road, the Marina and, of course, the seafront.
The Knowle at St Leonards is a perfect base for exploring St Leonards and Hastings, as well as the picturesque and historic counties of Sussex and Kent.
This landmark Victorian villa was built in the early 1900s. It retains many original features, including some wonderful stained glass windows and all of the original fireplaces. Weather permitting, guests are welcome to relax in our front garden.
Three generously sized, thoughtfully decorated bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms. Our bedrooms feature carefully chosen vintage and antique furniture, high thread count cotton sheets, super king sized beds with Hypnos or Sealy pocket sprung mattresses, blackout blinds and proper hair dryers. Some have a silent fridge.
The ensuite bathrooms have underfloor heating, large fluffy cotton towels and walk-in monsoon showers. Bohemia and Markwick also have a separate double ended bath. Breakfast is served in our dining room and is intended to be a relaxed and sumptuous affair. Our breakfast menu is varied and we offer vegetarian, fish and meat options. We only serve high welfare or organic fish, meat and eggs. All of our ingredients have been carefully selected for their quality and flavour, where possible items on our menu are sourced from Kent and Sussex food producers. In summer we supplement the breakfast menu with fruit and vegetables from our organic, no dig kitchen garden.
We have a treatment room in the house and we have a select group of therapists who can be booked for treatments such as facial reflexology, foot reflexology, massage and healing.
Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks and we can supply ice, bottle openers and glasses.
Please advise of any special diets, food allergies or intolerances before you arrive so that we can properly cater to them.
Reach the Knowle easily from London on the A21. Please be advised that the entrance to The Knowle is on Charles Road. Find The Knowle with What Three Words https://w3w.co/robe.aside.puff 'robe aside puff'.
