Space @ The Stade: The Spectrum of Space

About

This free, 2-day astronomy event for British Science Week is a continuation of the super popular Space@TheStade activity series. This season's theme is 'Space through the Electromagnetic Spectrum'.

Creative Space is back at Stade Hall with a pop-up planetarium featuring a 360-degree immersive show. You'll be looking at familiar things in very unfamiliar ways… seeing the invisible with different types of light! There will be sciency demos and hands-on activities. Activities include: See Far Infrared, Make a Wave Machine, Ignite the Energy, Make a Light Fountain, See UV, Secret Writing, Glow Slime Making, Measure Light Speed, Focus the Wave, See the Spectrum, and more! And it's all completely FREE!

If skies are clear, you'll be able to safely look at the Sun and the nighttime sky through telescopes and binoculars – many supplied and operated by members of local astronomical societies. This team of experts and enthusiasts will be on hand to guide you across the night sky and to share astronomical knowledge and expertise. The Sun will set at around 6pm on both event days and the Moon will be below the horizon after dark. There will also be a Telescope Clinic for anyone wanting advice on setting up a telescope or just wanting to know what astronomy stuff to buy and where to get it.
