A special remembrance train for the public will leave Tenterden, hauling the van which carried Nurse Edith Cavell’s body to London at the end of the First World War. The Cavell Van was also used to repatriate the remains of the Unknown Warrior and Captain Charles Fryatt, who was executed for attempting to ram U-boat.
The van is a popular attraction with visitors to the railway, where it is usually based at Bodiam during the operating season. The van is beautifully restored and contains an award-winning exhibition.
