The Hastleons 100th Anniversary production
We Will Rock You is a jukebox musical based on the music of the legendary rock band Queen. The story is set approximately 300 years in the future in a dystopian, corporate-controlled world called iPlanet, where all forms of musical instruments and live music have been banned. The society is dominated by a powerful corporation led by a figure known as Killer Queen, who enforces conformity and suppresses creativity.
The plot follows a group of rebellious individuals called the Bohemians, who seek to restore freedom of thought, culture, and especially rock music. The central characters, including Galileo and Scaramouche, are young revolutionaries who discover their passion for rock and challenge the oppressive regime. Their journey is one of self-discovery, resistance, and the fight to bring back the spirit of rock 'n' roll to a world that has lost its soul.
The musical features many iconic Queen songs such as 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'We Will Rock You', 'We Are the Champions', and 'Somebody to Love', woven into the narrative to highlight themes of rebellion, individuality, and the power of music.
In essence, We Will Rock You is a futuristic rock fantasy that celebrates the enduring spirit of rock music and its ability to inspire change and freedom.
