Hastings Speaks: A day in the life of a town
Hastings Speaks will use the art and love of writing to create a lasting record of contemporary Hastings and a chance to make connections across the past and present through our everyday lives.
Inspired by the Centre for Mass Observation, Hastings Speaks will launch a local Diary Day on 12 May 2016 creating an opportunity to record a day in the life of the town.
The Hastings Speaks blog will upload as many of these diaries as possible to provide a glimpse in to everyday life in 2016, 950 years after the invasion of 1066.
From this mass call out participants will have the chance to take part in writing workshops honing their day diaries, transforming them in to pieces of fiction, biographical work or performance.
A live literary event will be held in September as part of the ROOT 1066 International Festival.
