Choral Concert including music by Mozart, Beethoven, Fauré, Elgar, Orff and selections from Lehar, Gilbert & Sullivan and Rodgers & Hammerstein.
Our third Great Choral Classics concert at the De La
Warr Pavilion (postponed from 2020) includes a range
of great choral music with something for everyone! We move
from 'classic' items such as Orff's Carmina Burana (familiar
from many films and TV series), Mozart's Dies Irae (Requiem)
and Schubert's well-loved Ave Maria, plus pieces by
Beethoven, Fauré, Stainer, Haydn and Elgar, to selections from
Lehar's Merry Widow, Gilbert & Sullivan, and finally some great
songs from Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals, including
Oklahoma, Carousel, The Sound of Music and South Pacific.
We are joined by well-known local soloists Kristy Swift
(soprano) and Peter Grevatt (baritone), with accompaniment
from the Sussex Concert Orchestra. It promises to be a
wonderful evening.
