Add Family Day at Hastings Contemporary to your Itinerary

Families taking part in creative art activities during a Family Day workshop at Hastings Contemporary gallery.

About

Step back nearly 1,000 years this October half-term and discover the story of 1066 through a day of family-friendly creativity, exploration and play at Hastings Contemporary.

Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and the events leading up to the Battle of Hastings, this special Family Day features activities throughout the gallery alongside an artist-led workshop. Visitors can take part in hands-on creative experiences designed to bring the people, stories and artwork of the Norman Conquest to life in an engaging and accessible way.

Led by artists Chantelle Brett and Claire Griffiths, the event is suitable for families of all ages and offers a fun introduction to one of the most important moments in English history.

Taking place on 29 October 2026 from 11am to 4pm, there's no need to book in advance, simply drop in and join the activities throughout the day.

Under 18s go free. Standard gallery admission charges apply, with discounted rates available for eligible visitors.
