Artist Statement
I have lived in Hastings for about 30 years, the longest I have lived anywhere. I must like this town. I am an amateur painter - 'amateur' meaning 'to do something for the love of it'. I have painted most of my life. I use oil and usually paint with knives or old credit cards or fingers, or anything else that gets me the effect I want. The sea is my preferred subject, it is always changing, it's a moody subject, like me! I love clouds too, sky, sea and clouds, all moving, and moving me. Wheatfields, too, fascinate me. They are like golden seas, and if there's a big harvest moon, its a subject I can dream over. I like my colours to reflect how I feel about the scene, to reflect the mood I am in.
I have sold my work locally and used to sell from a little gallery I used to rent in the Old Town, the Blue Wave Gallery. Some may remember it.
