Add Bexhill Tweed & Tea On The Promenade - Family Bicycle Ride to your Itinerary

Bexhill Cycle Group

About

Forget Speed - it’s all about Tweed! This Tweed and Tea ride will be a bit different and will include a bike ride from Bexhill to Pevensey Castle and back. (Suitable for those in vintage clothing without bicycles who wish to join us later for the picnic only). An opportunity to dust down your bicycle, find something ‘tweedy’ to wear, (just a token item of tweed will do), and join us for some gentle exercise.

All cyclists very welcome to join in and participate. Meet other groups 3.30pm on the grass under the castle wall, just inside the gate of the castle (free access), opposite The Royal Oak & Castle Inn for our picnic / tea. (We encourage you to bring along vintage accessories such as; wicker hamper; wobbly tables & creaky chairs; blankets; table cloth; glass; china etc.) plus musical instruments to set the scene! (Whatever will fit on your bicycle)!

Meet at 2.00pm Bexhill Railway Station, under the entrance canopy. TN40 1EB, Tea aprox. 3.15pm . Please check the website before the event to ensure it is still going ahead. A minimum of 6 people must be confirmed and subject to weather conditions.

Route / Distance : 5 miles there, 5 miles back. (Nobody will be left behind).

Bicycles : Class 1-5 (see chart below). Any bicycle acceptable but pre-1980 classics or retro bicycles appreciated if you happen to have one. The flying of Union Jack flags and the attaching of Classic Cycle posters to bicycles is definitely encouraged

Dress code : The emphasis is on tweed / vintage attire rather than the vintage of bicycle, so please find something in the spirit of the antique to wear!
