Hastings Storytelling Festival presents Benjamin Zephaniah; pioneering dub poet, writer, social commentator and music maker.
The recipient of multiple honorary doctorates and author of many books for children, teenagers and adults, Benjamin has teamed up with renowned producer, The Sea (Toots & The Maytals, Rodney P, Massive Attack, The Wailers, Buju Banton) to create the incredibly timely album, Revolutionary Minds, which explores the political and economic corruption, global warming, rampant racism and fascist patriarchy of today’s world.
The five strong band provides rich, upbeat, hypnotic dub rhythms for Benjamin’s vocal and lyrical mastery. Backing vocalist, Amy True, is an artist in her own right – fast becoming one of the UK’s most influential lyricists.
Revolutionary Minds is a soundtrack for the modern revolutionist; it will make you feel empowered, hopeful, galvanised to make a difference and make you dance; it’s a dub thing.
