About

Discover how honey bees flourish in our current climate and what we can do to support these vital pollinators as part of the Hastings Sustainability on Sea week.

Learn about how, what and why bees forage on the flowers they do both in the wilds and our domestic gardens. Discover what flowering plants, shrubs and trees you can grow to support our waining bee population. We will also show you two examples of beehives at our woodland educational site. You will learn about the beekeeping year and how to stay in rhythm with the bees through their natural forage through the year. We will sit around our woodland fire and also be taken on a mindful bee journey where you will find out what it takes to be a honey bee on a foraging mission. Did you know that a honey bee makes only a twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her life.
