The world's first epic poem about the Bayeux Tapestry. The 'UK's Green Poet' Martin Kiszko performs, reads, and gives a workshop based on his new book Bayeux Tapestry – The Epic Poem, the world's first epic poem about the narrative of the Bayeux Tapestry.
Wanted: Come along and be a Tapestry Detective!
Threaded Text, Embroidered Tales: Unpicking the Bayeux Tapestry. Participants will become 'tapestry detectives' in unpicking the pictorial and textual narrative embroidered into the tapestry, as well as imagining and writing their own denouements of the mysterious unexplained scenes and missing concluding scenes. Come along and be a part of this historic poetry and storytelling event!

Workshop Aims Grasp the 1064–1066 narrative depicted in the tapestry. Understand the context of the claims on the English throne leading up to the Battle of Hastings. Gain an insight into medieval history. Explore historical information where incomplete or unexplained narrative occurs in the sequence of events. Creatively imagine new storyline for ambiguous or incomplete scenes as a useful line of investigation to interpret inconsistencies in the narrative.
Write a few stanzas of poetry about the final missing scenes of the tapestry.
Materials Participants will require paper and pens or their iPads etc.
