Anne Ryan (born in Limerick, Ireland) is a celebrated and influential contemporary artist, best known for her 'cutouts' - highly coloured, three dimensional paintings. For this exhibition at Hastings Contemporary, Ryan has assembled a large variety of new work using materials and processes that have been developed during the past few years – sculptural-painted works made from card, collage, canvas, ceramic and metal – highlighting Ryan's continuing interest and joy in the physical world as her subjects dance, party, pose and generally indulge themselves.
