About

Hastings International Piano is a registered charity that promotes an internationally-renowned piano competition that takes place every two years at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings. One of the few competitions that asks competitors to play concertos from the first round, it's now considered to be one of the top piano competitions in the world, rivalling any of the major international events of its kind.

This year's competition has already taken place (26 February - 7 March 2026). 40 talented young pianists, aged between 16 and 30, will compete for a cash prize, expert mentoring, and the chance to perform with a world class orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The event is generously supported by Steinway & Sons. The first two rounds of the competition are free, and everyone is welcome to come and watch whether for a few minutes or a few hours.

As well as running the competition, the charity also supports young artists by organising regular concerts in and around Hastings, as well as community activities such as its showcase for local pianists, Music in the Meadow, workshops in schools and performances in care homes.
