Pevensey Ghost Walks have now been running for 36 years (probably the longest running walks in Sussex). I also run ghost walks in Lewes and Alfriston, plus other guided history walks. Pevensey Ghost Walk takes place every Saturday beginning from the castle car park, at 7.30pm, and Lewes takes place on the first and fourth Fridays of the month, beginning outside the Town Hall near the War Memorial. Pevensey introduces some of the darker things lurking in the castle’s shadows – monks to murders, white ladies to smugglers. Lewes not only includes the usual ghosts, but a host of other gruesome stories associated with the ancient town. Of course, all, when dark are conducted by lantern light. The guide, Robert, is a member of EQUITY, and a local author. Prebooking for these public walks is recommended.
All the walks are also available to private groups, outings, clubs, birthdays etc on different dates to the public walks. Local history walks and graveyard walks are also available plus , when requested, a guided walk can be organised at a variety of locations in the area.
Talkinghistory also organise and run other events such as the Pevensey History Festival, which is now in its 9th year and takes place the last two weeks of August. This features talks, walks, workshops, re-enactments, and much more, most of which are free to attend.
There is also a bimonthly series of talks organised at Hailsham Pavilion , where, in a larger venue, excellent speakers talk on all things historical.
Topics range from Shackleton, Victorian Poisoners, Railway Tunnels, Titanic and so much more!
