Interior of Tadhg Mae Projects in Hastings, showcasing books, artwork, gifts and eclectic displays

About

Founded by Harriet Onslow-Delaney in 2021, Tadhg Mae Projects is an independent shop and cultural space in the heart of Hastings Old Town, devoted to the curious, the esoteric and the unconventional.

Rooted in the rich folklore and mythic traditions of Hastings, Tadhg Mae celebrates the mystical, the magical and the otherworldly, bringing together rare and vintage occult books, tarot and oracle, independent publishing and zines, art, music, jewellery and curious objects. From esoteric treasures to carefully chosen gifts and unusual finds, the shop is a cabinet of curiosities.

We have a particular fondness for independent publishers, small presses and the wonderfully obscure, championing publications, artists and makers whose work might not always find its way onto the shelves of more conventional shops. Whether it's an antique tome, an out-of-print occult journal, an unusual tarot deck, a beautifully produced zine or work of art, there's always something new, old or unexpected to discover.

Alongside the shop, Tadhg Mae hosts exhibitions, book launches, talks, tarot readings and workshops exploring art, magic, folklore, history and counterculture. We are so grateful to work with a wealth of incredibly talented artists, authors, makers, mystics and magical people, whose creativity and knowledge are very much at the heart of what we do.

We hope Tadhg Mae is a place for curiosity, conversation and unexpected encounters. We're so grateful to everyone who visits, and all are welcome to browse, chat and explore. We love swapping stories, sharing ideas and learning from fellow travellers. Our home in the Old Town feels especially fitting, given the rich occult history of Hastings and the surrounding East Sussex coast, with its connections to Aleister Crowley, Pamela Colman Smith, Alex Sanders and other colourful figures who lived, worked or spent time in the area.

After more than 25 years working in the art world across the UK, Asia and the USA, Harriet loves channeling her lifelong fascination with art, history and the esoteric into Tadhg Mae. She lives just around the corner with her husband Robert and Akhenaten the Chihuahua.
