Bexhill Modern Vintage

Bexhill on sea is the British seaside town that built itself an iconic Modernist pavilion, the resort whose beaches held the first mixed bathing town in the UK and home to the seafront that raised the starter flag on Britain's motor racing story.  A classical colonnade lines the long promenade and frames broad views across the bay to Beachy Head; Bexhill is situated just west of Hastings and is not your average English seaside tourist destination.

Bexhill's blend of unique character and quirkiness are what people come here for.

Local boy and international star Eddie Izzard is a regular visitor to his hometown and platinum-selling super group Keane drew inspiration from their childhood in Bexhill for their song, 'Sovereign Light Cafe'.

The Victorian promenade mixes attractive listed shelters with sailing boats and a rowing club (founded 1893) giving way further west to award-winning modern shelters, play fountains and eye catching classic seaside planting.  Charming Egerton Park has a duck pond; a boating lake and Olympic-themed children's play area.

The same quirkiness is reflected in the town's eclectic mix of shops; think modern vintage, retro and pre-loved, art and music instead of chain stores or neon attractions.  There are plenty of independent cafes and restaurants to enjoy too.

Bexhill's events draw thousands of visitors to the town and complement the programme of nationally and internationally acclaimed exhibitions and performances at the De La Warr Pavilion.

We're convinced you'll love what you find here so why not search for places to stay in Bexhill and extend your trip to stylish accommodation; the classic seaside landlady has long since hung up her Marigolds and departed this modern vintage resort.
