The Albion is a beautifully restored heritage pub on the seafront of Hastings Old Town.
The origins of the pub date from 1730, it was rebuilt in 1830 and in 1930 a full refurbishment by Edinburgh based brewer Youngers took place – the arts and craft features, original oak panelling and tartan swatches date from then and have survived decades of “fashionable” pub makeovers. Nearly 100 years further on, the Albion is a magnet for ale and cider drinkers – we specialise in Sussex brews and you’ll find us in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Food wise we are famous for the range of hand made "proper" pies that we make in house - they have won awards! We usually have at least 6 on the menu and cater for veggies, vegans and the gluten intolerant. Albion Pies is now a registered trademark and we supply local butchers too! Ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible from the bountiful Sussex Countryside, a great range of suppliers and our local fishing community.
Our little photogenic pasty shack out front sells the extremely popular pasties and cakes that we make in the Albion kitchen. The crab pasty and Sussex lamb are local favourites!
We host live music sessions weekly – every first and third Tuesday it’s a lively Irish session, the second and fourth Tuesday our house band The Albion Skiffle Company hold court and the occasional fifth Tuesday there’s a guest spot. Autumn and Winter Saturday afternoons there’s an acoustic music in our seafront bar and this swaps to DJs throughout the Summer. On occasional Saturdays, live bands of all genres play on our main stage.
The Albion is well placed to take part in the many lively, creative and often eccentric events that Hastings puts on throughout the year and some of these we host ourselves!
In chronological order these include a Twelfth Night party on the 6th of January, Burns Night in our Scottish Bar, the Hastings Fat Tuesday Music Festival, Hastings Traditional Jack In The Green, Hastings Pirate Festival, Hastings Old Town Week including the Albion Rodeo and the legendary Old Town Pram Race, Hastings Pride, Hastings Sea Food and Wine Festival, Hastings Bonfire, the Hastings Tap Takeover, Voodoo Fest – a New Orleans take on Halloween, the Old Town Cider Festival, Christmas in The Old Town and off we go again!
