Lyrids Shooting Stars Evening at The Observatory Science Centre
What are the 'Lyrids' shooting stars? The debris left behind by the comet Thatcher, they are the strongest annual shower of meteors from debris of a long-period comet, mainly because as far as other intermediate long-period comets go (200–10,000 years) this one has a relatively short orbital period!!
We welcome you to join us for an informative, informal talk and some meteor (shooting stars) spotting. If the weather is good you will have the opportunity to look through the historic telescopes, some of the largest working telescopes in the country.
Hot food & drinks will be available during this event.
