Weekend of Irish Music and Song in Hastings Old Town - 17-19 November

A festival of traditional Irish music and song to be held in various venues in Hastings.  

Album Launch and Opening Session at The Albion, 33 George Street at 7.30pm - November 17

Album launch for Matt Tighe's debut with a performace from 7.30pm.   Matt will be accompanied by renowned multi-instrumentalist Tad Sargeant (Crossharbour)

 

November 18

Multi Instrumental Tune Workshop led by Irish concertina player John Hastings. John is travelling from Ireland especially for the fleadh and will teach a tune by ear (sheet music also provided). This is suitable for all players who have a good standard of play on any instrument who would like to learn an Irish tune, especially aspriting concertina players! Cost is £7.50 for 90 minutes of tuition and will take place upstairs at The Jenny Lind, 69 High Street, Hastings Old Town between 11am-12.30pm

Fiddle workshop suitable for people who are learning Irish fiddle and would like to learn an Irish tune slowly. Led by supber fiddle player Kirsten Hammond.  Takes place at the Palace, 37 White Rock, between 11am-12.30pm.   Cost is £7.50 for 90 minutes of tuition.

Kirsten Hammond (fiddle) and Chris Murphy (banjo/mellodeon) to host an "Old Time" session. This will take place in the Palace Front Bar, 37 White Rock between 1pm-4pm and everyone is welcome to join in or just come along and listen.

Session of Irish music and song led by Chan Reid (Fiddle) and Kevin Scanlon (Guitar). All are welcome to join in or just come along and listen.  The Albion, 33 George Street, Hastings Old Town between 1pm-4pm.

Session of Irish music and song led by John Devine (pipes, whistle, keys, vocals) and Joe Devine (banjo, guitar). All are welcome to join in or just come along and listen.   The Stag Inn, 14 All Saints Street, Hastings Old Town between 1pm-4pm.

Led by outstanding dancer and world champion Irish dancer Maria McAteer Dahlberg, this is an Irish dancing workshop suitable for all ages and abilities including complete beginners.  Takes place in the back room of the Palace, 37 White Rock  and costs £7.50 for 90 minutes of tuition - 2pm-3.30pm

Session of Irish music and song led by Anja Peter from County Clare on Box and Ben Fyfe Taylor on guitar and bodhran. All are welcome to join in or just come along and listen.    The Stag Inn, 14 All Saints Street, Hastings Old Town between 4pm-7pm.

November 19

Advanced Irish Fiddle workshop led by the Clare fiddle player Tricia Hastings. This is suitable for fiddle players at an advanced level. Taking place upstairs at the Jenny Lind, 69 High Street, Hastings Old Town. Cost is £7.50 for 90 minutes of tuition - 11am-1.30pm

Irish Music Session to close the Fleadh at the Hastings Motor Boat & Yacht Club between 2pm-5pm.   Session of Irish music and song to close the 3rd Hastings Fleadh led by members of Hastings CCE and special guest musicians.  All welcome
