All the family can participate in watersports at our beautiful lake situated between Rye and Camber Sands. Windsurfing, dinghy sailing, and paddleboard lessons are run for children and adults, and kayak and paddleboard hire is available by the hour without a previous lesson. We run our kitesurfing lessons at Camber Sands.
Rye Watersports has been operating since 1986 and is still under the same family ownership. Our love of watersports is the essence of all we do here and our Royal Yachting, BKSA and BSUPA qualified instructors have the same desire to pass on the love of their sport to the pupils they teach.
A friendly, relaxed atmosphere awaits you when you come to the Centre, and our small café provides food and drink to customers.
WINDSURFING LESSONS AND HIRE
The lake is part of a SSSI which means it is protected for wildlife and apart from rescue boats no motorised craft use the water area. The shoreline shelves gently which gives confidence to pupils who are having a lesson for the first time. We teach our Royal Yachting lessons to children from age 8 years and Fun Activity days from Age 7. For those who can already windsurf equipment hire is available by the hour, and day sailors with their own kit are welcome.
DINGHY SAILING LESSONS AND HIRE
We have a superb fleet of boats for pupils to have their lessons in. From our single hander, Pico, Topaz and Fusion boats to the larger Magno and Bahia. All lessons for children and adults are run within the Royal Yachting guidelines and log books and certificates given at the end of the course. Our dinghies are available for hire to experienced sailors.
PADDLEBOARDING
Our lake is the perfect water area to paddleboard on where you can have a leisurely cruise or a good workout. BSUPA lessons are run by our experienced instructors and hire is available to those who just want to ‘have a go’ without a lesson first. SUP Fit lessons have become very popular but with these the initial two hour SUP lesson has to be completed first.
KITESURFING
Kitesurfing is a wonderful exhilarating sport and Camber Sands in East Sussex, a few minutes from our lake Centre, is the perfect place to learn. Shallow water for several hundred yards at low tide enables rapid progress for pupils.
KIDS FUN ACTIVITY DAYS
For children 7 to 12 years these are a wonderful fun introduction to watersports. Run by RYA qualified instructors children get a chance to experience all our watersports in a relaxed environment, with games and races as part of the experience.
KAYAK HIRE
Children and adults love to hire our kayaks and enjoy the experience of being on the water. Hire is by the hour and no previous lessons are necessary.
