Farmyard is a restaurant and natural wine bar in St Leonards-on-Sea. It has a cosy atmosphere and European feel, but specialises in dishes made from the finest local produce - from Hastings Old Town fish (dependent on what the boats bring in) and seafood to salt marsh lamb chops and well-aged steaks from down the road in Pevensey. Not to mention a particularly creative array of plant-based dishes, which may include salt-baked celeriac with truffle and blue cheese, or spiced cauliflower with tahini and dates.
It has arguably the most exciting wine list around, with around 150 bottles carefully chosen exclusively from natural and biodynamic producers, mainly from across Europe as well as Sussex. The changing blackboard of open wines offers plenty of choice by the glass, too. You won't drink anything here that's not organic, made with minimal intervention and no added nasties.
On Sundays look out for their locally famous Sunday Roasts, made with excellent quality meats and fish, plus all the trimmings. It also acts as a wine shop with take-out prices on all bottles if you want to grab something special to go.
