About
During Robinson Crusoe's early years on the island, he crafts a periagua, a little canoe with mast, sail, lockers and umbrella shade and sets sail to explore the other end of the island. It's a perilous adventure to the other side.
As part of #ATownExploresABook19, artists set sail with their personal distillations of Daniel Defoe's novel from one side of St Leonards on Sea to the other. What do we learn from viewing their work in 2 places? What do the artists learn about themselves from these contrasting perspectives?
A free exhibition in two parts curated by poet and illustrator Ed Boxall with the Zoom Arts collective and other artist in the town including Susan Miller, who has created of the mosaic book on the festival banner. Visit the work twice and join the procession to take your 'periagua' canoe from one side of town to the other.
